CRQC Meeting August 2023

With the Douglas County Fair in full swing, it might be easy to flip the calendar page and not realize that our first Tuesday meeting is actually on August 1st! So here’s your reminder to come…and here’s your reason: You’ll meet all of the current and new officers for the 2023-2024 year. Put names with faces. Know who to call for what. Celebrate the beginning of another year packed with learning, sewing and other fun. To make the night even more special, we are having a BATIK EXCHANGE & CHALLENGE!
Your task: bring one yard of batik fabric (be sure you love it as you will end up with some yourself) & a pair of scissors or snips
Our exchange: we will be snipping, ripping, dropping and passing so that everyone still ends up with a yard — but of SEVEN different fabrics!The challenge: you’ll have two months to create something — anything — with these fabric to be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize. Need ideas? We’ve got you covered from A-Z.
The prize: a handmade batik basket, filled to the brim with surprises — see it displayed at the August meeting!
(Note: There will be a sale basket with a very limited number of batik yardages for guests or those who forget. Want to contribute from your stash? You’ll receive $5 if fabric is selected. If not, you can take it home or donate it to our growing lot of gift/prize items for the coming year.)
